Mt.Brydges survives penalties, beats Port Stanley, 6-2Tritownship Wed, Feb 04, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Port Stanley Sailors failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Mt.Brydges Bulldogs shook off a number of penalties to win, 6-2. The win gave Mt.Brydges a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. The Bulldogs were led by Lucas Wilson, who registered one goal. Wilson scored on the power play 6:20 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Mt.Brydges. Mt.Brydges had gained a power play chance when Tanner Turley was whistled for roughing. Billy Morris picked up the assist. The Bulldogs put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Port Stanley to score on any of its 10 power plays. Mt.Brydges forced the Sailors goalie Josh Villani to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots. Mt.Brydges additionally got points from Carson Kennes, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Alex Cox, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Mt.Brydges also got a goal from Blayne Rusland as well. In addition, Mt.Brydges received assists from Sean Candler, who had two and Tyler Lockwood, Collin Baillie, Sam Dawson, and Antoine Brochu, who contributed one each. Paul Town recorded 25 saves for the Bulldogs. Mt.Brydges incurred 36 minutes in penalty time with 13 minors. Villani rejected 34 shots on goal for Port Stanley. The Sailors ended with 51 minutes in penalty time with 13 minors and one major. For Port Stanley, Turley was ejected from the game.
