Leenders' big game bests Hagersville in 6-3 Glanbrook win

Spencer Leenders had one goal and two assists to lead the Glanbrook Rangers to a 6-3 victory over the Hagersville Hawks.

Leenders scored 1:28 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Glanbrook. Chris Haigh assisted on the tally. Leenders dished an assist on Haigh's goal that made the score 3-0 Glanbrook at 7:24 into the second period. He added another helper on Haigh's goal that made the score 5-1 Glanbrook at 4:56 into the third period.

The win gave Glanbrook a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Rangers' penalty kill excelled, as Glanbrook gave up one goal despite allowing eight power plays.

Glanbrook additionally got points from Drew Jedrzejewicz, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Haigh, who also registered two goals and one assist, and Curtis Edwards, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Glanbrook also got a goal from Nathan Fiorino as well. Other players who recorded assists for Glanbrook were Brad Parish, who had one and Garnet Batrynchuk, who had two.

Hagersville was helped by Cole Martin, who had one goal. Martin scored on the power play 18:41 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Glanbrook. The Hawks had gained a power play chance when Owen Norton was whistled for tripping. Jonathan Pace picked up the assist. Hagersville also got points from Pace, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Derek Friesen also scored for Hagersville. In addition, Hagersville received assists from Zach Maciel, Jacob Bianchi, Dan Mederios, and Matt Rimac, who each chipped in one.

Matthew Venturelli recorded 23 saves for the Rangers. Glanbrook incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. For the Rangers, Jeff May was ejected from the game. Curtis Dortenzio took the loss and made 21 saves before being replaced by Horia Lucaciu who made three saves. Hagersville incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
