Dunnville downs Niagara, 5-2

Luke Rowe registered two points to lead the Dunnville Jr. Mudcats to a 5-2 victory over the Niagara Riverhawks.

The win gave Dunnville a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Jr. Mudcats excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Dunnville forced Niagara goalie Sebastian Iannone to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Dunnville additionally got points from Josh Meeuwse, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Jeff May, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Dunnville also had goals scored by Damien Lalonde and Dan Arrowsmith, who scored one goal each. More assists for Dunnville came via Evan Huckalo, who had two and Steven Czepek and Mack Steele, who contributed one each.

The Jr. Mudcats' Josh Rosettani stopped 21 shots out of the 23 that he faced. Dunnville incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Iannone rejected 28 shots on goal for the Riverhawks. Niagara incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. For the Riverhawks, Dylan Lazarus was ejected from the game.
