Dundas pulls away in second, rolls over Port Dover, 8-2

The Dundas Blues used a four-goal second period to put away the Port Dover Sailors, 8-2.

The win gave Dundas a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Blues were paced by Jake Bain, who registered one goal and one assist. Bain scored on the power play 3:18 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Dundas. Dundas had taken the advantage when Port Dover's Jacob Miller got sent off for slashing. Kevin Jaczenko provided the assist.

The Blues put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Sailors to score on any of their three power plays. Port Dover was unable to stop Dundas from sending pucks towards the net, and the Blues eventually piled up 65 shots on goal. Dundas got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game.

Dundas also got points from Nick McMullen, who also had one goal and one assist, Dan Pelosini, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Jaczenko, who also registered one goal and two assists, and Matt Johnson, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Dundas also had goals scored by Thomas Dowling, Liam Hurley, and Alex Aquin, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Dundas were Ray Thompson, Phoenix Schueler, Ryan Waterhouse, Cam McConnell, and Braxton Andrews, who each chipped in one.

The Sailors struggled on the penalty kill, allowing the Blues to score three power play goals on five chances.

Port Dover was led by Colin Streutker, who finished with one goal and one assist. Streutker scored 4:19 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Dundas. Brandon Dunnett picked up the assist. Port Dover also got a goal from Eric Mueller as well. More assists for Port Dover came via Sebastian Welc and Nick DeLuca, who contributed one each.

Dundas' Brock Novak stopped 19 shots out of the 21 that he faced. The Blues incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Mike Caluori rejected 57 shots on goal for the Sailors. Port Dover incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
