Alvinston survives Blenheim comeback, wins 3-2Blenheim Memorial Arena Sun, Feb 08, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Blenheim Blades tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Alvinston Flyers held on for a 3-2 victory. Alvinston took a 3-0 lead during the second period, only to have Blenheim storm back on a Matt Clark goal 9:22 into the third period to pull to one goal down. The win moved the Flyers to down 2-1 in the best of seven series. Alvinston forced the Blades goalie Klinton Kenney to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. The Flyers were helped by Josh Moore, who racked up one goal. Moore scored on the power play 11:33 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Alvinston. Alvinston earned a power play opportunity when Hunter Burk was put in the box for tripping. Jordan Hayes provided the assist. Alvinston also had goals scored by Karsten Berg and Kole Keating, who each put in one. In addition, Alvinston received assists from Kirklin Dorman, who had one. Blenheim was helped by Teddy McGeen, who grabbed one goal. McGeen scored on the power play 1:23 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Alvinston. Dylan Muzzatti picked up the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Blenheim were Bryan Boersma, Kirk McKillop, and Nolan VandenBoorn, who each chipped in one. Brett Avery recorded 27 saves for the Flyers. Alvinston incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Klinton Kenney made 30 saves for the Blades on 33 shots. Blenheim incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. |
