Blenheim rips Alvinston, 9-0

The Alvinston Flyers had trouble finding ways to stop the Blenheim Blades, which beat Flyers, 9-0.

The win gave Blenheim a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Blades got the win behind a great game by Nolan VandenBoorn, who had two goals and one assist. VandenBoorn scored the first of his two goals at 2:24 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Blenheim. Matt Clark picked up the assist. VandenBoorn's next tally made the score 6-0 Blenheim with 11:30 left in the second period. Mackenzie Dick assisted on the tally.

Alvinston's eight penalties came back to haunt it, as the Flyers let up four goals while on the penalty kill.

Blenheim forced Alvinston's goaltenders to work without much rest, taking 32 shots and forcing 23 saves. Brett Avery made 16 stops and Cam MacAlpine made seven. The Blades' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Alvinston power plays.

Blenheim additionally got points from Dylan Muzzatti, who also finished with two goals and one assist, Dylan Smith, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Teddy McGeen, who also racked up two goals and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Blenheim included Bryan Boersma and Kellen Kaniecki, who scored one goal each. In addition, Blenheim received assists from Tyler Boughner, who had two and Kirk McKillop, Justin Baker, Dallas Richard, Hunter Burk, and Corbin Hagerman, who contributed one each.

Klinton Kenney rejected 20 shots on goal for Blenheim. The Blades incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. The Flyers incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
