Lakeshore beats Dresden 6-4 after comeback scare

The Dresden Kings tried to dig themselves out of a four-goal hole, but the Lakeshore Canadiens held on for a 6-4 victory.

Lakeshore made the score 6-2 on a goal by Nick Tavolieri-Essex at 14:04 in the third period, and Dresden got as close as 6-4 when Derek Daly scored 18:56 into the third period.

The win gave the Canadiens a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Lakeshore was led by Mejoe Gasparovic, who racked up one goal. Gasparovic scored on the power play 13:20 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lakeshore. The Canadiens had gained a power play chance when Austin Bentley was whistled for interference. Tavolieri-Essex provided the assist.

The Kings were unable to stop Lakeshore from sending pucks towards the net, and the Canadiens eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Lakeshore additionally got points from Tavolieri-Essex, who also had one goal and one assist, Sebastian Kanally, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Connor Goodchild, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Lakeshore included Hunter Corp and Luke Sanko, who each put in one. More assists for Lakeshore came via Aaron Moore, who had two and Cameron MacDougall, JJ Percy, Liam MacDougall, and Logan Percy, who contributed one each.

Dresden forced Lakeshore goalie John Jeffries to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

Dresden also got points from Will Tetzlaff, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Derek Shaw also scored for Dresden. In addition, Dresden received assists from Ross Krieger, who had two and Dede Cato, Steven Funk, and DJ Sapone, who each chipped in one.

John Jeffries made 33 saves for the Canadiens on 37 shots. Lakeshore incurred 46 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Daniel Tonietto recorded 27 saves for the Kings. Dresden incurred 50 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
