Kincardine squeaks by Mount Forest, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Kincardine Bulldogs escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Mount Forest Patriots.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Jordan Van Haelemeesch's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

With the win, Kincardine evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown.

The Bulldogs were led by Van Haelemeesch, who grabbed one goal. Van Haelemeesch scored 8:05 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Kincardine. Chad Simpson assisted on the tally.

Kincardine excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Bulldogs kept Mount Forest's goalie busy throughout the game, and John Nixon made 27 saves on 31 shots.

Others who scored for Kincardine included Dalton Hnatko, Derrick Bernath, and Patrick Wiejak, who scored one goal each. More assists for Kincardine came via Shawn Moore, who had two and Brady Richards and Brycin Morrison, who each chipped in one.

Kincardine was unable to stop the Patriots from sending pucks towards the net, and Mount Forest eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

The Patriots were helped by Trevor Hughson, who had one goal. Hughson scored 8:38 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Mount Forest. Doug Costanzo picked up the assist. Tyler McCracken also scored for Mount Forest. Other players who recorded assists for Mount Forest were Doug Ardis, Luke Richardson, and Mitch Betts, who contributed one each.

Mitch Campbell made 31 saves for the Bulldogs on 33 shots. Kincardine incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Mount Forest incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
