The Goderich Flyers tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Hanover Barons held on for a 4-3 victory.

A goal by Brodie Lemay put Hanover up 4-1 in the second period, but Goderich pulled to within one on Chase Duckworth's tally 4:34 into the third period.

The win gave the Barons a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Hanover was led by Jarrett Kuntz, who registered one goal. Kuntz scored on the power play 11:44 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Hanover. The Barons had gotten the advantage when the Flyers' Drew McKee was sent off for tripping. Tyson Soers picked up the assist.

Hanover's offense rang up 35 shots on Goderich's net.

Hanover also got points from Lemay, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Hanover included Justin D Graham and Garrett Reed, who scored one goal each. More assists for Hanover came via Kurt Ruhl, Denver Hill, and Wendel Cameron, who contributed one each.

The Flyers were helped by Brandon Priestap, who grabbed two goals. Priestap scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 18:38 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Hanover. Goderich had gained a power play chance when Graham was whistled for hooking. Joseph Dykstra provided the assist. Priestap's next tally on the power play made the score 4-2 Hanover with 9:17 left in the second period. Duckworth picked up the assist. Goderich additionally got points from Duckworth, who also tallied one goal and one assist. In addition, Goderich received assists from Marcel Fohkens, who had one.

The Barons' Gord Walmsley stopped 19 shots out of the 22 that he faced. Hanover incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Nathan Watson recorded 31 saves for the Flyers. Goderich incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
