Ayr rolls over Wellesley, 8-1

The Wellesley Applejacks had trouble finding ways to stop the Ayr Centennials, which beat Applejacks, 8-1.

The win gave Ayr a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Anthony Pullia had two goals to lead the Centennials to victory. Pullia found the back of the net on the power play 16:12 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Ayr and again while 10:35 into the second to make the score 3-0 Ayr.

Ayr's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Wellesley power plays. The Centennials forced Wellesley goalie Tim Bester to work between the pipes, taking 50 shots.

Ayr also got points from Jake Whibbs, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Quinn Diamond, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, Carver Ormiston, who also registered one goal and one assist, Logan Beechey, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Sean Mitchell, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Ayr also got a goal from Colin Schuringa as well. Other players who recorded assists for Ayr were Jackson White, who had two, Riley Clipper, who had three, and Mackenzie Kemp, Jeff Howlett, and Andrew Richard, who each chipped in one.

Andre Keire rejected 24 shots on goal for Ayr. The Centennials incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Bester recorded 42 saves for the Applejacks. Wellesley incurred 42 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors.
