Swindells stymies Paris, Woodstock wins 4-1

The Woodstock Navy Vets relied on the sparkling performance of Jackson Swindells in net to grab a 4-1 win against the Paris Mounties.

After the loss made the series score 3-2 in the best of seven series, Paris faces elimination next time out.

Woodstock pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 36 penalty minutes.

The Navy Vets were led by Mackenzie Langford, who racked up one goal. Langford scored 7:45 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Woodstock. Mike Gillespie provided the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 19:59 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Woodstock forced Mounties' netminders to work in net, launching 39 shots and forcing 35 saves. Davis McLean made 16 stops and Zach Shomphe made 19.

Woodstock also got points from Austin Richardson, who also had one goal and one assist. Woodstock also had goals scored by Chris Nauts and Tyler Lyons, who each put in one. In addition, Woodstock received assists from Max Coyle, who had one and Jake Schneider, who had two.

The Navy Vets were unable to stop the Mounties from sending pucks towards the net, and Paris eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Brett Wilson also scored for Paris. Other players who recorded assists for Paris were Clayton Chalmers and Tye Calder, who each chipped in one.

Woodstock's Swindells stopped 32 shots out of the 33 that he faced. The Navy Vets registered three goals on seven power play opportunities. Team's Justin Elms and Garrett Whetham were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. The Mounties totaled 36 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and two majors and went 1-for-8 on the power play. For Paris, Alex Takacs and Garrett Kirby were ejected from the contest.
