Paris squeaks by Woodstock, 4-3

The Paris Mounties gutted out a close 4-3 win against the Woodstock Navy Vets.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Tye Calder secured the win for Paris with a goal in the third period.

The win moved the Mounties to down 2-1 in the best of seven series.

Paris was led by Calder, who finished with one goal. Calder scored 1:48 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Paris. Austin Cox picked up the assist.

The Mounties put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Woodstock to score on any of its four power plays. Paris kept the Navy Vets' goalie busy throughout the game, and Michael Roefs made 41 saves on 45 shots.

Paris additionally got points from Merrit Crumback, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Paris also had goals scored by Austin Sine and Brett Wilson, who each put in one. In addition, Paris received assists from Alex Ritchie and Scott Sippel, who contributed one each.

Woodstock was helped by Dan Haig, who grabbed one goal. Haig scored short handed 5:01 into the second period to make the score 2-2. The Navy Vets were on a disadvantage when Mackenzie Langford went off the ice for roughing after whistle. Woodstock also got points from Mike Gillespie, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Chris Nauts also scored for Woodstock. More assists for Woodstock came via Braden Hutchison, Justin Elms, and Tyler Lyons, who each chipped in one.

Davis McLean rejected 22 shots on goal for the Mounties. Paris incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Woodstock incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
