Woodstock hangs on, beats Paris 2-0

Dylan Wettlaufer gave the Woodstock Navy Vets the lead in the first period, and the Paris Mounties was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 2-0.

Wettlaufer provided Woodstock with the game-winning tally when he scored 4:40 into the first period. Braden Hutchison picked up the assist.

The win gave the Navy Vets a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Wettlaufer was all over the ice for Woodstock, as he registered two goals in the win.

The Navy Vets were boosted by Michael Roefs, who turned in a shutout with 27 saves. Roefs certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 0.5 entering the contest.

Woodstock excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Navy Vets kept Paris' goalie busy throughout the game, and Davis McLean made 34 saves on 36 shots.

More assists for Woodstock came via Austin Richardson and Mike Gillespie, who each chipped in one.

Woodstock incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Mounties incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
