16U Team White outlasts 16U Team Blue, 5-3

16U Team White and 16U Team Blue were evenly matched throughout their contest, but 16U Team White made the most of its opportunities and won, 5-3.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Marshal Plunkett secured the win for 16U Team White with a goal in the second period.

Plunkett was all over the ice for 16U Team White, as he finished with two goals in the win.

16U Team White's penalty kill excelled, as 16U Team White gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

16U Team White got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

16U Team White also had goals scored by Ethen Frank, Matt Kowalski, and Ryan Hein, who each put in one. More assists for 16U Team White came via Jaden Anderson, who had two and Bryan Yoon and Alec Zawatsky, who each chipped in one.

16U Team Blue forced 16U Team White's netminders to work in net, ripping 32 shots and forcing 29 saves. Veeti Haapasalo made 13 stops and Jake Acton made 16. 16U Team Blue did not rack up many penalties in the contest, tallying only one minor for two minutes in penalty time.

16U Team Blue was led by Justin Dixson, who tallied one goal and one assist. Dixson scored on the power play 5:54 into the second period to make the score 2-0 16U Team Blue. Jack Gates provided the assist. 16U Team Blue also got points from Gates, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Zach Fizer also scored for 16U Team Blue. In addition, 16U Team Blue received assists from Dallas Tulik, who had one.

16U Team White incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. 16U Team Blue's starting goalie, John Massara, made 11 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Hunter Smith, who stopped 12 shots.
