The Goderich Flyers could not stop the Hanover Barons' Justin D Graham, who tallied a hat trick in a 6-3 win. Graham got on the scoresheet 18:43 into the first period. He then added goals at 11:50 into the second and at 15:02 into the third.The win gave Hanover a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. Goderich was unable to stop the Barons from sending pucks towards the net, and Hanover eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. Hanover also got points from Brodie Lemay, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Hanover included Mitchell Pike and Jarrett Kuntz, who scored one goal each. In addition, Hanover received assists from Kyler Jones, who had one, Colton Culbert, who had two, and Tyson Soers, who had three. The Flyers were helped by Andrew Gooding, who finished with one goal. Gooding scored 16:41 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Jordan Pepper picked up the assist. Goderich also had goals scored by Logan Lammerant and Brandon Priestap, who each put in one. More assists for Goderich came via Joseph Dykstra, Chase Duckworth, and Marcel Fohkens, who contributed one each. The Barons' Gord Walmsley stopped 22 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Hanover incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Barons ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Denver Hill was ejected from the game. Nathan Watson rejected 32 shots on goal for Goderich. The Flyers incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
