West rips South, 7-1

West had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-1 win over South.

Tom Schmidt had one goal and three assists to lead West. Schmidt scored on the power play 4:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 West. West had gotten the advantage when South's Mykyta Sheptytsky was sent off for tripping. Dylan Zins picked up the assist.

West was led by goalie Jesse Garcia, who finished with 32 saves while allowing one goal. Despite the solid performance, Garcia will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 1.0 entering the contest.

West excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

West additionally got points from Bo Gronseth, who also had two goals and one assist and Zins, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. West also got a goal from Tanner Skaja as well. Other players who recorded assists for West were Sam Naegele, who had two and Sean Viti, Trent Olsen, and Michael Orke, who contributed one each.

South's offense rang up 33 shots on West's net.

South was led by Justin Dunn, who scored the team's only goal. Dunn scored 5:10 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Ryan Dunner assisted on the tally.

West incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Justin Ball rejected 23 shots on goal for South. South incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
