Port Hope shrugs off penalties, upends Picton, 6-1

The Picton Pirates failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Port Hope Panthers shook off a number of penalties to win, 6-1.

Port Hope was led by Dalton Lawrence, who registered one goal and one assist. Lawrence scored 4:57 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Port Hope. Cameron McGill picked up the assist.

The Panthers forced Picton's goaltenders to work all game long, totaling 37 shots and forcing 31 saves. Nick Kazmierczak made 21 stops and Matt Loveys made 10. Port Hope excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in eight chances.

Port Hope additionally got points from McGill, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Port Hope included Dylan Baxter, who had two and Rory Milne and Dan Lagrois, who each put in one. More assists for Port Hope came via Josh Cameron, Connor Turland, Hunter Baker, Jacob Spicer, Chays Ruddy, Tyler Davey, and Chandler Gillespie, who contributed one each.

The Pirates were held below their usual level of production. Picton averages 4.1 goals per game.

The Pirates were led by Taylor Brown, who scored the team's only goal. Brown scored 10:00 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Port Hope. Devin McCann assisted on the tally.

Devan Tremblay recorded 21 saves for the Panthers. Port Hope incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Picton incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
