Marsch nets hat trick, leads M1 Mercyhurst University to 5-1 win over M1 Eastern Michigan UniversityDearborn U of M Ice Arena Sun, Nov 30, 2014 Greg Marsch lifted the M1 Mercyhurst University Lakers to a 5-1 victory with a hat trick against the M1 Eastern Michigan University Eagles. Marsch notched his first tally 8:20 into the first period. He then added goals at 18:33 into the first and at 4:28 into the third.M1 Mercyhurst University was led by goalie Adam Goss, who finished with 43 saves while allowing one goal. Goss certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 4.45 entering the contest. The Lakers stifled M1 Eastern Michigan University's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. M1 Mercyhurst University could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game. The 33 shots that the Lakers put on net surpassed M1 Mercyhurst University's average of 1.4 shot per game this season. M1 Mercyhurst University also got points from Darnell Clarke, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Peter Hlusko, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for M1 Mercyhurst University were Michal Smid and Joseph Tadiello, who contributed one each and Jesse Valasek and Brian Hamm, who each chipped in two. The Eagles put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Lakers to score on any of their five power plays. The Eagles incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
