Huge game by Beatty boosts Long Beach Bombers over Springfield Express, 7-2

Johan Beatty had two goals and two assists to lead Long Beach Bombers to a 7-2 victory over Springfield Express.

Beatty found the back of the net 8:21 into the second period to make the score 4-1 Long Beach Bombers and again while 19:24 into the second to make the score 6-2 Long Beach Bombers.

Long Beach Bombers forced Springfield Express' netminders to work without much rest, taking 39 shots and forcing 32 saves. Oliver Eklund made 27 stops and Brandon Smith made five. Long Beach Bombers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Springfield Express to score on any of its three power plays. Long Beach Bombers bested its season scoring average. Long Beach Bombers has scored at the pace of 4.4 goals per game during the current campaign.

Long Beach Bombers additionally got points from Michael Sjolin, who also grabbed two goals and one assist. Others who scored for Long Beach Bombers included Tomas Nemeth, Patrik Johansson, and Carl Lyden, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Long Beach Bombers were Lukas Lindquist, who had three, Charles Arsenescu and Khalil East, who contributed one each, and Tomas Urbanec and Anton Rhose, who each chipped in two.

Springfield Express racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with five minors and two majors for 40 minutes in penalty time. Springfield Express surpassed its season average of 22.0 penalty minutes per game.

Springfield Express was helped by Linus Dahlberg, who racked up one goal. Dahlberg scored 5:15 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Long Beach Bombers. Tobias Sjolund assisted on the tally. Seth Ensor also scored for Springfield Express. More assists for Springfield Express came via Diego Bartlett and Josh Cook, who contributed one each.

Bailey Ketola made 22 saves for Long Beach Bombers on 24 shots. Long Beach Bombers totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 2-for-4 on the power play.
