Salt Lake City Moose wins tough contest against Ontario Avalanche, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, Salt Lake City Moose escaped with a 4-2 victory over Ontario Avalanche.

Salt Lake City Moose gained the winning advantage on a goal by Ross Gann 11:47 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer.

Salt Lake City Moose was sparked by Gann, who finished with one goal and one assist.

Salt Lake City Moose put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Ontario Avalanche to score on any of its three power plays. Salt Lake City Moose forced Ontario Avalanche goalie Chris Skeates to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

Salt Lake City Moose also got points from Erik Ahlen, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Salt Lake City Moose included Brett Myer and Patrick OBryan, who each put in one. In addition, Salt Lake City Moose received assists from Charlie Granath, Dan Veselovsky, Devan Beck, and Jacob Liljeroos, who each chipped in one.

Ontario Avalanche's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Salt Lake City Moose power plays.

Ontario Avalanche was helped by Paul Ramsey, who had one goal. Ramsey scored 16:11 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Sean Plonski picked up the assist. Thurel Kast also scored for Ontario Avalanche. Other players who recorded assists for Ontario Avalanche were Nick Anderson and Adam Plonski, who contributed one each.

Salt Lake City Moose's Ryan Gasparovic stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Salt Lake City Moose incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Skeates recorded 27 saves for Ontario Avalanche. Ontario Avalanche incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Ontario Avalanche ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ramsey was ejected from the game.
