SOUTH JERSEY COUGARS hangs on, beats PHILADELPHIA LIBERTY 5-3

SOUTH JERSEY COUGARS beat PHILADELPHIA LIBERTY, 5-3, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout.

SOUTH JERSEY COUGARS took over the lead for good with a goal by JOEY PHILLIPS at 4:29 in the first period. DON SUSINI provided the assist.

SOUTH JERSEY COUGARS was paced on offense by PHILLIPS and SUSINI, who combined for six points. PHILLIPS tallied one goal and three assists and SUSINI also notched one goal and one assist.

PHILADELPHIA LIBERTY was unable to stop SOUTH JERSEY COUGARS from sending pucks towards the net, and SOUTH JERSEY COUGARS eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. The defensemen of SOUTH JERSEY COUGARS were also effective in PHILADELPHIA LIBERTY's zone, and came away with two goals.

PHILADELPHIA LIBERTY also got a goal from BILL CUNNIGHAM as well. More assists for PHILADELPHIA LIBERTY came via BRIAN PAVGOUZAS and BRANDON SPENCER, who each chipped in one.

KEITH DUGAN recorded 25 saves for SOUTH JERSEY COUGARS. SOUTH JERSEY COUGARS avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored zero goals off of zero power plays.
