EMPIRE STATE LEGENDS stifles NEW ENGLAND INSANITY's comeback, gains 6-5 victory

NEW ENGLAND INSANITY almost clawed its way back from a three-goal deficit, but EMPIRE STATE LEGENDS managed to pull out a 6-5 win in the end.

EMPIRE STATE LEGENDS led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when EMPIRE STATE LEGENDS' Sean Beatty scored at 13:34 in the first period to put EMPIRE STATE LEGENDS up 4-1.

Sam Sherman was all over the ice for EMPIRE STATE LEGENDS, as he registered two goals in the win. Sherman scored at 12:06 into the first period to make the score 3-1 EMPIRE STATE LEGENDS and again while 14:19 into the second to make the score 6-5 EMPIRE STATE LEGENDS.

EMPIRE STATE LEGENDS managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. EMPIRE STATE LEGENDS finished below its season average of 3.0 penalty minutes per game. EMPIRE STATE LEGENDS outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, EMPIRE STATE LEGENDS averages 3.7 goals per contest.

EMPIRE STATE LEGENDS also had goals scored by Nick Vitale and Rich Schwartz, who each put in one. In addition, EMPIRE STATE LEGENDS received assists from Dale Johnson, Pat Rosa, Vincent Vilinoti, and George Liapis, who contributed one each and Frank Florio and Christopher Culot, who each chipped in two.

NEW ENGLAND INSANITY was led by Jerry Turcotte, who finished with three goals and one assist. NEW ENGLAND INSANITY additionally got points from Jimmy Fuoroli, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Joshua Antunes also scored for NEW ENGLAND INSANITY. Other players who recorded assists for NEW ENGLAND INSANITY were Jered Allen, who had two and Matty Love, Brian Beaudette, and Austin Natividad, who contributed one each.

Pete Penneke rejected 19 shots on goal for EMPIRE STATE LEGENDS. EMPIRE STATE LEGENDS registered zero goals on zero power play opportunities. Alvin Durning recorded 24 saves for NEW ENGLAND INSANITY. NEW ENGLAND INSANITY finished the contest with no penalties and went 1-for-1 with the man advantage.
