OConnell's big game bests M3-Gettysburg College in 8-6 M3-Widener University win

Brian OConnell had four goals and two assists to lead M3-Widener University to an 8-6 victory over M3-Gettysburg College.

OConnell notched his first tally 3:27 into the second period. He then added goals at 19:22 into the second, at 19:33 into the second, and at 19:59 into the third.

M3-Gettysburg College's Thomas Pelchat could not handle what M3-Widener University threw at him, as M3-Widener University netted its goals off of eight.

The defensemen of M3-Widener University were also effective in M3-Gettysburg College's zone, and came away with four goals.

Others who scored for M3-Widener University included Tim Leach, who had two and Phillip Iaccarino and Alex Lolli, who scored one goal each. More assists for M3-Widener University came via Matthew Reed, who had three, Troy Kraft and John Silverio, who contributed one each, and Drew Phillipes and Jon Philip Filippello, who each chipped in two.

M3-Gettysburg College surpassed its usual scoring output this season. M3-Gettysburg College has scored at the pace of 2.7 goals per game during the current campaign. M3-Gettysburg College did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting eight shots on net to force two saves. M3-Gettysburg College's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

M3-Gettysburg College was helped by Matt Kuhl, who finished with one goal and one assist. Kuhl scored 10:13 into the third period to make the score 7-5 M3-Widener University. Pelchat picked up the assist. M3-Gettysburg College also got points from Joseph Chiarino, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Joseph Stancato, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Alexander Posner, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Kyle Morris also scored for M3-Gettysburg College. Other players who recorded assists for M3-Gettysburg College were Charles Baetjer, who had one.

M3-Widener University avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored zero goals off of zero power plays. M3-Gettysburg College ended with no penalties and went 0-for-0 on the power play.
