Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (mm) uses shootout to best LA Jr. Kings (mm), 3-2 (4-3 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (mm) defeated LA Jr. Kings (mm) in a shootout 3-2 (4-3 SO).

The two teams needed 14 turns to complete the shootout. LA Jr. Kings (mm) got shootout goals from Cole Guttman, Jacob McGrew, and Jared Christy. Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (mm)'s other shootout goals were scored by Jonathan Dube, Mark Kastelic, and Tristan Moss.

Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (mm) came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (mm) fell behind 2-1 after a goal by LA Jr. Kings (mm)'s Michael Maple at 13:21 in the third period. Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (mm) knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Mason Vukonich at 15:57 in the third period.

Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (mm) managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (mm) finished below its season average of 10.0 penalty minutes per game.

LA Jr. Kings (mm) was led by McGrew, who grabbed one goal and one assist. McGrew scored 9:30 into the first period to make the score 1-0 LA Jr. Kings (mm). Austin Koss provided the assist.

Jack Moore rejected 33 shots on goal for Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (mm). LA Jr. Kings (mm)'s Garrett Nieto stopped 23 shots out of the 25 that he faced. LA Jr. Kings (mm) incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
