St. Andrews College beats Nichols School 4-3 after comeback scare
The Nichols School Vikings tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the St. Andrews College Saints held on for a 4-3 victory.
The Saints excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. St. Andrews College's offense rang up 36 shots on the Vikings' net. The Saints could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game.
St. Andrews College also had goals scored by Justin Fregona, Darren Iwai, and Griffin James, who each put in one. In addition, St. Andrews College received assists from Quentin Campbell, who had two and Otto Saarimaa, Adam Sinclair, Austin Cho, and Mac Lewis, who contributed one each.
Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.
Nichols School was led by Keaton Arkeilpane, who registered one goal and two assists. Arkeilpane scored 10:16 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Harrison Oates provided the assist. Nichols School also got a goal from Anthony Scanzuso as well. More assists for Nichols School came via Erik Urbank, who had one.
Matthew Galajda recorded 27 saves for St. Andrews College. The Saints registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Michael Stachera made 32 saves for the Vikings on 36 shots. Nichols School incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
