Terry's big game bests Brantford in 6-1 Whitby win

Shane Terry was all over the ice for the Whitby Dunlops, as he tallied two goals and one assist in Whitby's 6-1 win over the Brantford Blast.

Terry's tallies came at 18:17 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Whitby and 53 seconds into the third to make the score 3-1 Whitby.

The Dunlops were led by goalie Anthony Kimlin, who finished with 31 saves while allowing one goal.

Brantford was unable to stop Whitby from sending pucks towards the net, and the Dunlops eventually piled up 45 shots on goal. Whitby was held back by its power play unit, which tallied two goals on 13 chances. The Dunlops could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 42 minutes in penalties during the game.

Whitby additionally got points from Peter MacKellar, who also tallied one goal and three assists to lead the team in points and Adam Maccarone, who also had one goal and one assist. Whitby also got a goal from Kyle Ventura as well. In addition, Whitby received assists from Chris Eade, Chris Gour, Matthew Baxter, Chris Purves, and Adam Van Dam, who contributed one each.

The Blast were often in penalty trouble, totaling 15 minors and one major for 65 minutes in penalty time. Brantford surpassed its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. The Blast's offense operated below their season average. Brantford puts an average of 5.0 pucks into the net per game. The Blast forced Whitby goalie Kimlin to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Brantford was led by Andrew Marcoux, who scored the team's only goal. Marcoux scored on the power play 15:01 into the second period to make the score 1-1. The Blast had taken the advantage when the Dunlops' Purves got sent off for boarding. Dave Russell picked up the assist.

Brett Leggat rejected 39 shots on goal for Brantford. The Blast registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
