M1 West Virginia University took a 3-1 lead during the third period, only to have M1 Naval Academy / United States storm back on a Steven Knopf goal 19:00 into the third period to pull to one goal down. The Mountaineers were sparked by Harrison Colby, who registered one goal and one assist. Colby scored 7:31 into the third period to make the score 3-1 M1 West Virginia University. James Murray picked up the assist. M1 West Virginia University excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. By firing 30 shots on goal, the Mountaineers exceeded the 0.6 shots they average per game this year. Others who scored for M1 West Virginia University included Thomas Brooks and Gerard Clayton, who each put in one. More assists for M1 West Virginia University came via Marty Hubert, Zachary LaDuke, and Trey Bracy, who each chipped in one.
