The M1 Oakland University Golden Grizzlies tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the M1 Liberty University Flames held on for a 4-3 victory.

M1 Liberty University took a 4-2 lead during the third period, only to have M1 Oakland University storm back on a Michael Mackinnon goal 17:33 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Flames got the win on the strength of a great game by Luke Hannon, who had two goals and one assist. Hannon scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 5:10 into the second period to make the score 1-1. A roughing penalty on Will Shier had put M1 Liberty University on the power play. Ben Hughes picked up the assist. Hannon's next tally on the power play made the score 3-1 M1 Liberty University with 5:11 left in the second period. The Flames earned a power play opportunity when John Baker was put in the box for slashing. Hughes assisted on the tally.

M1 Liberty University put 41 shots on net during the contest, more than the 29.4 it averages per game. The Flames could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

M1 Liberty University also had goals scored by Luke Simon and Cam Bakker, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for M1 Liberty University were Lindsay LeBlanc, who had two and Matt Sherry and Steven Bellew, who contributed one each.

The Golden Grizzlies could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 42 minutes in penalties during the game.

M1 Oakland University was helped by Matt Stirling, who registered one goal. Stirling scored 11:42 into the third period to make the score 3-2 M1 Liberty University. William Balent picked up the assist. M1 Oakland University additionally got points from Patrick Smiatacz, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, M1 Oakland University received assists from Nick Rogers and Kyle Nelson, who each chipped in one.

Ian Harris made 19 saves for M1 Liberty University on 22 shots. The Flames registered three goals on 10 power play opportunities. The Golden Grizzlies' Corey Hrischuk stopped 37 shots out of the 41 that he faced. M1 Oakland University registered one goal on seven power play opportunities.
