Mount Forest squeaks by Hanover, 3-2

The game between the Mount Forest Patriots and the Hanover Barons was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Mount Forest emerged with a 3-2 win.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Doug Ardis secured the win for the Patriots with a goal in the third period.

Mount Forest was paced by Ardis, who had one goal. Ardis scored 14:52 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Mount Forest. Jake Newton assisted on the tally.

The Patriots stifled Hanover's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Mount Forest forced the Barons goalie Gord Walmsley to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Mount Forest additionally got points from Luke Richardson, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Mount Forest also got a goal from Trevor Hughson as well. More assists for Mount Forest came via Brady Becker and Mitch Betts, who contributed one each.

Hanover managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for 12 minutes in penalty time. The Barons finished below its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. Hanover put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Patriots to score on any of their four power plays. The Barons kept Mount Forest's goalie busy throughout the game, and John Nixon made 41 saves on 43 shots.

Hanover was helped by Brad Pitt, who grabbed one goal. Pitt scored seven seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hanover. Colton Culbert provided the assist. Brodie Lemay also scored for Hanover. In addition, Hanover received assists from Maxwell Barclay and Wendel Cameron, who each chipped in one.

The Patriots incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Gord Walmsley made 29 saves for the Barons on 32 shots. Hanover registered zero goals on three power play opportunities. For the Barons, Denver Hill was ejected from the game.
