M1 Lindenwood University wins tough contest against M1 Iowa State University, 3-2

The M1 Lindenwood University Lions and the M1 Iowa State University Cyclones were evenly matched throughout their contest, but M1 Lindenwood University made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Rock Einersen's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

The Lions were paced by Einersen, who grabbed one goal. Einersen scored on the power play 19:59 into the third period to make the score 3-2 M1 Lindenwood University. A high sticking penalty on Seth Serhienko had put M1 Lindenwood University on the power play. Riley Spraggs assisted on the tally.

The Lions' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three M1 Iowa State University power plays.

M1 Lindenwood University additionally got points from Tobias Nasgarde, who also had one goal and one assist and Michael Lozano, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for M1 Lindenwood University came via Jake Fairchild and Mitchell Riese, who each chipped in one.

M1 Iowa State University struggled on the penalty kill, allowing M1 Lindenwood University to score three power play goals on five chances. With 43 shots on target during the contest, the Cyclones exceeded the 0.3 shots they average per game this year.

M1 Iowa State University was helped by Zack Johnson, who tallied one goal. Johnson scored 19:39 into the second period to make the score 2-1 M1 Iowa State University. Trevor Lloyd provided the assist. Jake Uglem also scored for M1 Iowa State University. In addition, M1 Iowa State University received assists from Jake Bruhn and Austin Parle, who contributed one each.

Michael Hails made 41 saves for the Lions on 43 shots. M1 Lindenwood University incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Matt Cooper recorded 23 saves for the Cyclones. M1 Iowa State University incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
