St. Louis AAA Blues (MM) beats New Jersey Rockets (MM) 3-2 after comeback scare

New Jersey Rockets (MM) tried to dig itself out of a three-goal hole, but St. Louis AAA Blues (MM) held on for a 3-2 victory.

A goal by Jeff Makowski put St. Louis AAA Blues (MM) up 3-0 in the second period, but New Jersey Rockets (MM) pulled to within one on Ian Damiani's tally 3:14 into the third period.

New Jersey Rockets (MM)'s power play was ineffective against St. Louis AAA Blues (MM)'s penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

St. Louis AAA Blues (MM) excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. New Jersey Rockets (MM) was unable to stop St. Louis AAA Blues (MM) from sending pucks towards the net, and St. Louis AAA Blues (MM) eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. The defensemen of St. Louis AAA Blues (MM) were also effective in New Jersey Rockets (MM)'s zone, and came away with two goals.

St. Louis AAA Blues (MM) was helped by Ben Rucker, who registered two goals. Rucker scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 2:05 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Louis AAA Blues (MM). Luke Radetic picked up the assist. Rucker's next tally on the power play made the score 2-0 St. Louis AAA Blues (MM) with 7:44 left in the first period. Radetic provided the assist. St. Louis AAA Blues (MM) additionally got points from Makowski, who also racked up one goal and one assist. More assists for St. Louis AAA Blues (MM) came via Joseph Matthews, who had one.

In addition, New Jersey Rockets (MM) received assists from Dennis Ruppe, who had one.

Tommy Nappier recorded 21 saves for St. Louis AAA Blues (MM). St. Louis AAA Blues (MM) incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Connor Silverstein rejected 34 shots on goal for New Jersey Rockets (MM). New Jersey Rockets (MM) incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
