Colorado Thunderbirds (mm) beats Ohio Blue Jackets (mm) 5-3 after comeback scare

Colorado Thunderbirds (mm) survived a determined comeback attempt by Ohio Blue Jackets (mm) on the way to a 5-3 win.

Colorado Thunderbirds (mm) made the score 5-2 on a goal by Josiah Slavin at 11:14 in the third period, and Ohio Blue Jackets (mm) got as close as 5-3 when Chase Gresock scored 17:24 into the third period.

Colorado Thunderbirds (mm) got the win with help from a great game by Max Gerlach, who had two goals and one assist. Gerlach scored the first of his two goals at 10:02 into the first period to make the score 3-0 Colorado Thunderbirds (mm). Ashton Fry picked up the assist. Gerlach's next tally made the score 4-1 Colorado Thunderbirds (mm) with 15:51 left in the second period. Phillip Knies provided the assist.

Colorado Thunderbirds (mm) took advantage of Ohio Blue Jackets (mm)'s penalties, tallying two goals off of three power play opportunities.

Colorado Thunderbirds (mm) additionally got points from Slavin, who also had one goal and one assist, Jake Gricius, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Knies, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Colorado Thunderbirds (mm) came via Callan Foote, who had two and Alex Lindstrom, Ben Lown, and Brian Hawkinson, who contributed one each.
