Colorado Thunderbirds (mm) beats LA Jr. Kings (mm) 5-3 after comeback scare

Colorado Thunderbirds (mm) survived a determined comeback attempt by LA Jr. Kings (mm) on the way to a 5-3 win.

Colorado Thunderbirds (mm) took a 5-1 lead during the second period, only to have LA Jr. Kings (mm) storm back on a Ezekiel Estrada goal 7:21 into the third period to pull to two goals down.

Colorado Thunderbirds (mm) got the win behind a great game by Max Gerlach, who had two goals and one assist. Gerlach scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 13:15 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Colorado Thunderbirds (mm). A too many men penalty on Vladislav Klenov had put Colorado Thunderbirds (mm) on the power play. Keegan Mantaro picked up the assist. Gerlach's next tally on the power play made the score 2-1 Colorado Thunderbirds (mm) with 17:29 left in the second period. Brian Hawkinson assisted on the tally.

Colorado Thunderbirds (mm) forced LA Jr. Kings (mm) goalie Garrett Nieto to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Colorado Thunderbirds (mm) also got a goal from Josiah Slavin as well. In addition, Colorado Thunderbirds (mm) received assists from Baker Shore, Fritz Belisle, and Callan Foote, who each chipped in one.

LA Jr. Kings (mm) also got points from Jared Christy, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Nathan Burke also scored for LA Jr. Kings (mm). Other players who recorded assists for LA Jr. Kings (mm) were Logan McColgan, who had one.
