M1 Davenport University squeaks by M1 Oakland University, 4-2Patterson IC 1 Sat, Jan 17, 2015 In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the M1 Davenport University Panthers escaped with a 4-2 victory over the M1 Oakland University Golden Grizzlies. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Cameron Dimmitt's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. Dimmitt had a great game for M1 Davenport University, netting two goals. The Panthers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow M1 Oakland University to score on any of its five power plays. With 36 shots on target during the contest, M1 Davenport University exceeded the 3.1 shots it averages per game this year. The Panthers were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 20 penalty minutes. M1 Davenport University also had goals scored by Jordan Simmonds and Everett Thompson, who scored one goal each. In addition, M1 Davenport University received assists from Luke Mccarthy, Travis White, Stephen Flood, and Michael Gessler, who contributed one each. M1 Oakland University also got a goal from William Balent as well. More assists for M1 Oakland University came via James Odom and Nick Rogers, who each chipped in one. Clayton Brown made 25 saves for M1 Davenport University on 27 shots. Sean Parker recorded 32 saves for the Golden Grizzlies.
