M1 Davenport University survives M1 Liberty University comeback, wins 6-4

The M1 Davenport University Panthers, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by the M1 Liberty University Flames and clinched a 6-4 victory.

M1 Davenport University led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Panthers' Chris Eckler scored at 17:54 in the first period to put M1 Davenport University up 3-0.

Luke Mccarthy was all over the ice for the Panthers, as he registered two goals in the win. Mccarthy's tallies came at 9:48 into the third period to make the score 5-4 M1 Davenport University and 19:52 into the third to make the score 6-4 M1 Davenport University.

M1 Davenport University bested its season scoring average. The Panthers have scored at the pace of 3.6 goals per game during the current campaign. M1 Davenport University's penalty kill unit could not stop M1 Liberty University's power play, which converted on four of six opportunities. The Panthers' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as M1 Davenport University finished with 16 penalty minutes. The Panthers' offense was clicking better than usual and put 43 shots on goal during the game, better than the 2.6 shots per game they average.

M1 Davenport University also got points from Eckler, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, Kody Polin, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Jordan Simmonds, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Travis White, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for M1 Davenport University came via Cody Walsh, Chris Ballatore, Michael Gessler, Aaron Beally, Winston Hofer, and Joshua Munford, who contributed one each.

The Flames average 39.3 shots on goal per game, but only sent 30 pucks on net against M1 Davenport University.

M1 Liberty University was helped by Luke Simon, who registered two goals and one assist. Simon scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 7:12 into the second period to make the score 3-1 M1 Davenport University. The Flames had taken the advantage when the Panthers' Tyler Ploeg got sent off for slashing. Lindsay LeBlanc provided the assist. Simon's next tally on the power play made the score 3-3 with 8:08 left in the second period. M1 Liberty University had gotten the advantage when M1 Davenport University's Hofer was sent off for high sticking. Cam Bakker picked up the assist. M1 Liberty University additionally got points from Luke Hannon, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. M1 Liberty University also got a goal from Matt Sherry as well. In addition, M1 Liberty University received assists from Grant Garvin and Ryley Egan, who each chipped in one.

Matt Kaludis rejected 26 shots on goal for the Panthers. M1 Davenport University registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Cary Byron took the loss and made 35 saves before being replaced by Ian Harris who made two saves. The Flames incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
