Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the M1 Robert Morris Univ Pennsylvania Colonials defeated the M1 John Carroll University Blue Streaks in a shootout 3-2 (3-1 SO).

The shootout featured five attempts between both teams. M1 John Carroll University got a shootout goal from Kevin Vinyard. In addition to the clincher, M1 Robert Morris Univ Pennsylvania got shootout goals from Travis Reece and James Joyce.

The Colonials overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. M1 Robert Morris Univ Pennsylvania was down 2-0 after a goal by the Blue Streaks' Vinyard at 19:05 in the first period. The Colonials tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Carlos Quevedo Biel at 12:04 in the second period.

M1 Robert Morris Univ Pennsylvania was sparked by Reece, who had one goal. Reece scored 9:12 into the second period to make the score 2-1 M1 John Carroll University. Eric Barger picked up the assist.

The Colonials excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. M1 Robert Morris Univ Pennsylvania put 48 shots on net during the contest, more than the 0.1 it averages per game.
