M1 Pittsburgh University of uses shootout to best M1 Towson University, 3-2 (2-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the M1 Pittsburgh University of Panthers defeated the M1 Towson University Tigers in a shootout 3-2 (2-0 SO).

The shootout lasted for five attempts between the teams. In addition to the clincher, M1 Pittsburgh University of got a shootout goal from Bobby Tritschler.

The Panthers came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. M1 Pittsburgh University of trailed 2-1 after a power play goal by M1 Towson University's Michael Darosa at 9:05 in the second period. The Panthers knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Peter Zenger at 9:53 in the second period.

M1 Pittsburgh University of's penalty kill excelled, as the Panthers gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

With 28 shots on target during the contest, M1 Pittsburgh University of exceeded the 1.6 shot it averages per game this year. The Panthers' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as M1 Pittsburgh University of finished with 24 penalty minutes.
