M1 Ithaca College outlasts M1 Cornell University, 6-5

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the M1 Ithaca College Bombers escaped with a 6-5 victory over the M1 Cornell University Big Red.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Matthew Rottler secured the win for M1 Ithaca College with a goal in the third period.

Michael Sadwith was all over the ice for the Bombers, as he tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Sadwith scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 18:29 into the first period to make the score 3-2 M1 Ithaca College. M1 Ithaca College had gained a power play chance when Thomas Carpenter was whistled for hooking. Ryan Murtagh assisted on the tally. Sadwith's next tally on the power play made the score 5-4 M1 Ithaca College with 17:31 left in the third period. Nick Mecca picked up the assist.

The Bombers forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. M1 Ithaca College surpassed its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. The Bombers' goal total was higher than their season average. This season, M1 Ithaca College averages 2.4 goals per contest. The Bombers put 33 shots on net during the contest, more than the 0.3 they average per game.

M1 Ithaca College also got points from Murtagh, who also grabbed two goals and two assists. M1 Ithaca College also got a goal from Joey Hanf as well. More assists for M1 Ithaca College came via Onesemiah Sutich, who had four and Daniel Stalica and Zander Hoke, who contributed one each.

M1 Cornell University forced M1 Ithaca College goalie Jonathan Lipshutz to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots.

The Big Red were helped by Nathaniel Welsh, who registered two goals. Welsh scored the first of his two goals at 2:04 into the third period to make the score 4-4. Carpenter provided the assist. Welsh's next tally made the score 5-5 with 16:49 left in the third period. Carpenter picked up the assist. M1 Cornell University additionally got points from Carpenter, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Tyler Khilnani, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Thomas Suesser also scored for M1 Cornell University. In addition, M1 Cornell University received assists from Brendan Brown, who had two and William Bristow and Brian Schiff, who each chipped in one.

Lipshutz rejected 35 shots on goal for the Bombers. M1 Ithaca College registered two goals on four power play opportunities. The Bombers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Hoke was ejected from the game. Cameron Yang made 27 saves for M1 Cornell University on 33 shots. The Big Red incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
