M2 Army stifles M1 Penn State University Berks' comeback, gains 5-3 victory

M2 Army came close to giving away a four-goal lead to the M1 Penn State University Berks Nittany Lions, but did just enough to escape with a 5-3 victory.

M2 Army led by four goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when M2 Army's Michael St Denis scored at 10:52 in the first period to put M2 Army up 4-0.

Cory Miller had two goals to lead M2 Army to victory. Miller found the back of the net 5:27 into the first period to make the score 1-0 M2 Army and again while 12:52 into the third to make the score 5-3 M2 Army.

M2 Army also got points from Retke, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, M2 Army received assists from Logan Schmidt, who had two and Nick Pappas, Andrew Lysakowski, Thane Heller, and Matthew Riehl, who each chipped in one.

M1 Penn State University Berks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three M2 Army power plays. The Nittany Lions could not produce up to their normal offensive output. M1 Penn State University Berks averages 5.1 goals per game. By firing 42 shots on goal, the Nittany Lions exceeded the 0.4 shots they average per game this year.

M1 Penn State University Berks was helped by Trevor Cohn, who tallied one goal. Cohn scored 12:44 into the third period to make the score 4-3 M2 Army. Alec Dellavecchia picked up the assist. M1 Penn State University Berks also got a goal from Jesse Abarca as well. More assists for M1 Penn State University Berks came via Tyler Lantz, who had two.

M2 Army's Nicholas Candelmo stopped 39 shots out of the 42 that he faced. M2 Army incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Nittany Lions' starting goalie, Justin Golia, made 18 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Matthew Hilbert, who stopped six shots. M1 Penn State University Berks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
