M3-Widener University beats M3-Shippensburg University 6-3 as Phillipes gets hat trick

M3-Shippensburg University could not stop M3-Widener University's Drew Phillipes, who tallied a hat trick in a 6-3 win.

Phillipes' first goal came 10:50 into the first period. He then added goals at 12:54 into the second and at 12:52 into the third.

M3-Widener University kept M3-Shippensburg University's goalie busy throughout the game, and Tanner Stouffer made 37 saves on 43 shots.

M3-Widener University also got points from John Silverio, who also tallied two goals and one assist. Garrett Stratton also scored for M3-Widener University. Other players who recorded assists for M3-Widener University were Joe Vattai, who had two and Brian OConnell, Matthew Reed, and Tim Leach, who contributed one each.

M3-Shippensburg University did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. M3-Shippensburg University puts an average of 7.5 pucks into the net per game. M3-Shippensburg University forced M3-Widener University goalie Matt Vesper to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

M3-Shippensburg University was led by Brendan Lutz, who had two goals. Lutz scored the first of his two goals at 19:09 into the first period to make the score 2-2. Austin Rinck picked up the assist.
