M1 Canisius College vanquishes M1 Buffalo / University at in shootout, 5-4 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the M1 Canisius College Golden Griffins defeated the M1 Buffalo / University at Bulls in a shootout 5-4 (1-0 SO).

The two teams needed eight turns to complete the shootout.

M1 Canisius College came back from a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Golden Griffins was down 4-1 after a power play goal by M1 Buffalo / University at's Sean Dungan at 9:27 in the second period. M1 Canisius College knotted things up at 4-4 on a goal by Michael Mangone at 17:07 in the third period.

Jess Hackett was all over the ice for the Golden Griffins, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Hackett scored on the power play 15:05 into the third period to make the score 4-3 M1 Buffalo / University at. M1 Canisius College had gotten the advantage when the Bulls' Dimitrios Koutsomitis was sent off for unsportsmanlike conduct. Matthew Muszynski assisted on the tally.
