Belle Tire (MM) holds on for 4-3 win against Cleveland Barons (MM)

Belle Tire (MM) survived a determined comeback attempt by Cleveland Barons (MM) on the way to a 4-3 win.

A goal by Dean Hewines put Belle Tire (MM) up 4-1 in the second period, but Cleveland Barons (MM) pulled to within one on Gordie Harwood's tally 17:29 into the third period.

Belle Tire (MM)'s penalty kill excelled, as Belle Tire (MM) gave up zero goals despite allowing nine power plays.

Belle Tire (MM) forced Cleveland Barons (MM)'s goaltenders to work in net, taking 34 shots and forcing 30 saves. Henry Johnson made 14 stops and Anthony Yamnitsky made 16. Belle Tire (MM) stifled Cleveland Barons (MM)'s power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Belle Tire (MM)'s defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Belle Tire (MM) could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

Belle Tire (MM) was helped by Trevor Coykendall, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Coykendall scored 6:46 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Belle Tire (MM). Justin Metropoulos assisted on the tally. Belle Tire (MM) also got points from Metropoulos, who also had one goal and one assist. Belle Tire (MM) also got a goal from Nate Kallen as well. Other players who recorded assists for Belle Tire (MM) were Patrick OConnor, who had two and Corbin Kaczperski and Riley DeFazio, who contributed one each.

Cleveland Barons (MM) put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Belle Tire (MM) to score on any of its three power plays. Cleveland Barons (MM) kept Belle Tire (MM)'s goalie busy throughout the game, and Kaczperski made 47 saves on 50 shots. Cleveland Barons (MM) was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 14 penalty minutes.

Cleveland Barons (MM) was helped by Ryder Schwamm, who registered one goal. Schwamm scored short handed 33 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-0 Cleveland Barons (MM). A high sticking call on Corbin Foppe put Cleveland Barons (MM) on the penalty kill. Scott Donahue provided the assist. Cleveland Barons (MM) additionally got points from Harwood, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Jordan Rose also scored for Cleveland Barons (MM). In addition, Cleveland Barons (MM) received assists from Colton Meekhof, Sean Moore, and Bryan Moore, who each chipped in one.
