Stoney Creek downs Dundas in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Stoney Creek Generals pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over the Dundas Real McCoys on a clutch goal by Matt Smith.

Stoney Creek came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Generals was down 2-0 after a goal by Dundas' Brad Bonello at 10:07 in the first period. Stoney Creek knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Mike Ruberto at 8:10 in the third period.

The Generals were led by Smith, who tallied one goal. Smith scored 1:21 into overtime to make the score 3-2 Stoney Creek. Dominic Crnogorac assisted on the tally.

Stoney Creek's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Dundas power plays. The Generals could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Stoney Creek puts an average of 5.1 pucks into the net per game. The Generals forced the Real McCoys goalie Mike Mole to work between the pipes, taking 61 shots.

Stoney Creek also got a goal from Kyle Zettler as well. In addition, Stoney Creek received assists from Dylan Gilbert, Matthew Reynolds, Marcus Ruberto, and Sean Blanchard, who contributed one each.

Dundas excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Real McCoys did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Dundas averages 4.2 goals per game. Stoney Creek was unable to stop the Real McCoys from sending pucks towards the net, and Dundas eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

The Real McCoys were led by Brett Smith, who finished with one goal and one assist. Smith scored 6:30 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Dundas. Chris McGuffin provided the assist.

Dan Earles recorded 31 saves for the Generals. Stoney Creek incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Mike Mole made 58 saves for Dundas on 61 shots. The Real McCoys incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
