Terry's big game bests Brantford in 7-4 Whitby winBrantford Civic Centre Fri, Jan 30, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Shane Terry had one goal and four assists to lead the Whitby Dunlops to a 7-4 victory over the Brantford Blast. Terry beat Anthony Marshall with a shot 2:33 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Mike Pawlak provided the assist. Terry dished an assist on Peter MacKellar's goal that made the score 4-3 Whitby at 15:24 into the second period. He then added assists on Kyle Ventura's goal at 16:56 into the second, on Kyle Musselman's goal at 19:15 into the second, and on MacKellar's goal at 15:01 into the third.Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 7:55 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Whitby forced Blast's netminders to work in net, racking up 31 shots and forcing 24 saves. Marshall made 17 stops and Brett Leggat made seven. The Dunlops excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Whitby also got points from MacKellar, who also finished with two goals and two assists, Brett McConnachie, who also had one goal and one assist, and Musselman, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Matt Salituro also scored for Whitby. In addition, Whitby received assists from Matthew Baxter, who had one and Chris Eade, who had two. Whitby was unable to stop Brantford from sending pucks towards the net, and the Blast eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. Penalties took their toll on Brantford, as its penalty kill unit let in three power play goals. The Blast were helped by Brad Jones, who registered one goal. Jones scored 13:22 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Brantford. Kevin Christmas assisted on the tally. Brantford additionally got points from Derek Medeiros, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Brantford also had goals scored by Chris Leveille and Ryan McCarthy, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Brantford were Mark Taylor and Jeff Caister, who contributed one each and Dave Russell and Mike Burgoyne, who each chipped in two. Anthony Kimlin made 34 saves for the Dunlops on 38 shots. Whitby ended with 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors and two majors. For the Dunlops, Chris Gour and Steve Natywary were ejected from the contest. Brantford ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major. For the Blast, Shayne Salmon was ejected from the game.
