Huge game by Reynolds boosts Stoney Creek over Brantford, 7-4

Matthew Reynolds had two goals and one assist to lead the Stoney Creek Generals to a 7-4 victory over the Brantford Blast.

Reynolds scored at 4:26 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Stoney Creek and again while 24 seconds into the third to make the score 5-3 Stoney Creek.

Stoney Creek's offense rang up 42 shots on Brantford's net. The Generals surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, Stoney Creek averages 4.8 goals per contest.

Stoney Creek also got points from Matt Smith, who also had one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, Marcus Ruberto, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Nathan Pageau, who also registered one goal and one assist. Stoney Creek also had goals scored by Kyle Zettler and Dennis Maxwell, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Stoney Creek were Dylan Gilbert, Mike Ruberto, and Tony Iaquinto, who each chipped in one.

The Blast were led by Derek Medeiros, who finished with two goals. Medeiros scored the first of his two goals at 4:14 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Mark Taylor provided the assist. Medeiros' next tally made the score 2-2 with 11:09 left in the first period. Joel Prpic picked up the assist. Brantford additionally got points from Prpic, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Ryan McCarthy also scored for Brantford. In addition, Brantford received assists from Kyle Montpetit, Jeff Caister, and Kevin Christmas, who contributed one each.

Dan Earles rejected 24 shots on goal for the Generals. Stoney Creek incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Brett Leggat made 35 saves for Brantford on 42 shots. The Blast incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors and had no power play opportunities.
