Huge game by Van Dam boosts Whitby over Dundas, 9-4

Behind a great game by Adam Van Dam, who had four goals and one assist, the Whitby Dunlops defeated the Dundas Real McCoys, 9-4.

Van Dam got on the scoresheet 13:10 into the first period. He then added goals at 10 seconds into the third, at 2:38 into the third, and at 8:37 into the third.

Whitby's penalty kill excelled, as the Dunlops gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Dundas was unable to stop Whitby from sending pucks towards the net, and the Dunlops eventually piled up 44 shots on goal. Whitby outdid its season average for goals scored. The Dunlops average 5.8 goals per game.

Whitby also got points from Peter MacKellar, who also had one goal and one assist, Patrick Jobb, who also racked up one goal and three assists, and Brett McConnachie, who also registered two goals and two assists. Kyle Ventura also scored for Whitby. More assists for Whitby came via Chris Eade, who had three and Jason Guy, Connor Shingler, Matt Salituro, and Chris Purves, who each chipped in one.

The Real McCoys' offense rang up 33 shots on Whitby's net.

Dundas was helped by Beni Berisha, who grabbed one goal and two assists. Berisha scored 12:22 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Dundas. Cam Watson provided the assist. Dundas additionally got points from Simon Mangos, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Watson, who also had one goal and two assists. Dundas also got a goal from Chris McGuffin as well. In addition, Dundas received assists from Scott Stafford, who had two.

The Dunlops' Guy stopped 29 shots out of the 33 that he faced. Whitby incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For the Dunlops, Nick Jobb was ejected from the game. Neil Clelland rejected 35 shots on goal for the Real McCoys. Dundas incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
