Whitby blows out Norwood, 7-1Asphodel-Norwood CC Sun, Dec 21, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Whitby Dunlops had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-1 win over the Norwood Vipers. Whitby's Anthony Kimlin was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 32 saves and let only one puck past him. The Dunlops were led by Connor Shingler, who had one goal and one assist. Shingler scored 13:09 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Whitby. Matt Salituro picked up the assist. Whitby put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Norwood to score on any of its four power plays. The Vipers were unable to stop the Dunlops from sending pucks towards the net, and Whitby eventually piled up 68 shots on goal. Whitby additionally got points from Nick Jobb, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Salituro, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Kyle Ventura also scored for Whitby. Other players who recorded assists for Whitby were Matthew Baxter, who had two and Chris Eade, Doug Carr, Peter MacKellar, Adam Van Dam, and Shane Terry, who each chipped in one. Norwood's offense rang up 33 shots on the Dunlops' net. The Vipers were led by Shannon McNevan, who scored the team's only goal. McNevan scored 6:37 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Will Jones assisted on the tally. Whitby incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Paul Bourbeau Jr rejected 61 shots on goal for Norwood. The Vipers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
