Dundas holds on for 3-2 win against Stoney Creek

The Stoney Creek Generals tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Dundas Real McCoys held on for a 3-2 victory.

A goal by Shawn Snider put Dundas up 3-0 in the second period, but Stoney Creek pulled to within one on Mike Ruberto's tally 19:58 into the third period.

The Real McCoys' penalty kill excelled, as Dundas gave up zero goals despite allowing nine power plays.

The Real McCoys stifled the Generals' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Dundas' offense rang up 41 shots on Stoney Creek's net. The Real McCoys could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 32 minutes in penalties during the game.

Dundas was helped by Chris McGuffin, who grabbed one goal. McGuffin scored on the power play 11:23 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Dundas. The Real McCoys had taken the advantage when the Generals' Kyle Zettler got sent off for ineligible player. Dan Lapointe picked up the assist. Dundas also got a goal from Colin Isnor as well. In addition, Dundas received assists from Joe Koudys, who had two and Cam Watson and Curtis Campbell, who contributed one each.

Stoney Creek did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Generals put an average of 4.7 pucks into the net per game. Stoney Creek forced Dundas goalie Mike Mole to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots. The Generals excelled on the penalty kill, only allowing the Real McCoys to get one power play goal on 14 chances. Stoney Creek could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 68 minutes in penalties during the game.

Other players who recorded assists for Stoney Creek were Chris Knighton, Greg O Neill, and Marc Madarasz, who each chipped in one.

Dundas' Mole stopped 42 shots out of the 44 that he faced. For the Real McCoys, Isnor was ejected from the game. Dan Earles made 38 saves for the Generals on 41 shots. Team's Mark Vida and Tony Iaquinto were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
