Brantford holds on for 4-3 win against Stoney Creek

The Stoney Creek Generals tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Brantford Blast would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3.

Brantford took a 4-2 lead during the third period, only to have Stoney Creek storm back on a Mike Ruberto goal 11:34 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

Andrew Marcoux had a great game for the Blast, netting two goals. Marcoux's tallies came on the power play at 18:39 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and 4:06 into the second to make the score 2-1 Brantford.

Team could not crack the Generals' penalty kill and was held to two power play goals while having nine opportunities to play with the man advantage.

Brantford also got points from Kevin Christmas, who also had one goal and one assist and Chris Leveille, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Brantford received assists from Derek Medeiros, who had two and Cam Sault, Mark Taylor, and Jamie Williams, who each chipped in one.

Stoney Creek kept Brantford's goalie busy throughout the game, and Anthony Marshall made 48 saves on 51 shots. The Generals were held back by their power play unit, which tallied one goal on nine chances.

Stoney Creek additionally got points from Matthew Reynolds, who also registered one goal and one assist. Stoney Creek also got a goal from Mark Vida as well. Other players who recorded assists for Stoney Creek were Ryan Healy, Kyle Zettler, and Jeff Leaist, who contributed one each.

The Blast ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major. For Brantford, Taylor was ejected from the game. Stoney Creek's Daniel Svedin stopped 22 shots out of the 26 that he faced. The Generals incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Stoney Creek ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Chris Knighton was ejected from the game.
