Whitby falls to Stoney Creek in overtime, 5-4 (OT)Iroquois - Rink#1 Sat, Nov 15, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Stoney Creek Generals' Ryan Healy scored 13 seconds into overtime to beat the Whitby Dunlops, 5-4 (OT). Stoney Creek overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Generals was down 4-2 after a power play goal by Whitby's Kyle Ventura at 4:28 in the second period. Stoney Creek tied things up at 4-4 on a goal by Healy at 11:16 in the third period. Healy was all over the ice for the Generals, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. The Dunlops were unable to stop Stoney Creek from sending pucks towards the net, and the Generals eventually piled up 45 shots on goal. Stoney Creek could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 36 minutes in penalties during the game. Stoney Creek also got points from Greg O Neill, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Mike Ruberto, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Matthew Reynolds also scored for Stoney Creek. Other players who recorded assists for Stoney Creek were Sean Blanchard, who had two and Dominic Crnogorac, Kyle Zettler, and Chris Knighton, who contributed one each. Whitby kept the Generals' goalie busy throughout the game, and Dan Earles made 34 saves on 38 shots. The Dunlops' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Whitby finished with 26 penalty minutes. The Dunlops were helped by Adam Van Dam, who finished with one goal. Van Dam scored 12:17 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Stoney Creek. Kyle Musselman assisted on the tally. Whitby also had goals scored by Peter MacKellar and Jared Docking, who each put in one. More assists for Whitby came via Mike Pawlak, who had two and TJ Kemp, Scott Freeman, Matt Gray, and Shane Terry, who each chipped in one. Stoney Creek registered two goals on six power play opportunities. Jason Guy recorded 40 saves for Whitby. The Dunlops registered three goals on eight power play opportunities.
